Epithalon is a synthetic tetrapeptide (just four amino acids) based on epithalamin, a compound naturally produced by the pineal gland. Its primary mechanism is activating telomerase — the enzyme responsible for maintaining telomeres, the protective caps at the end of chromosomes. Telomeres shorten with each cell division, and their length is one of the most widely tracked markers of biological aging.
Published studies by Professor Vladimir Khavinson (who developed the compound) showed telomerase activation and telomere elongation in human cell cultures. It’s also been studied for its effects on melatonin production and circadian rhythm regulation through its pineal gland connection. No other commercially available peptide targets telomerase directly.
